Supervision
Supervision is a structured, ongoing professional relationship focused on the development of clinical competence, ethical practice, and professional identity. It includes regular review of clinical work, reflective discussion, and guidance related to standards of practice, risk management, and scope of practice. Supervision may be used to meet regulatory or training requirements, depending on a clinician’s registration status with CRPO or OCSWSSW.​

Consultation
Consultation is a collaborative, collegial process that provides targeted clinical or professional support without an evaluative or oversight component. It is typically short-term or as-needed and focuses on specific questions, cases, or areas of practice.Consultation supports clinical insight and decision-making but does not replace formal supervision or fulfill regulatory supervision requirements unless explicitly permitted by the relevant college.
